Fetal Well Being Scan
- Best performed after 26 weeks gestation
- Not always provided routinely within the NHS
- To determine the growth and health of the baby
- Measures the baby's head, abdomen and thigh bone and
estimates its current weight
- Assesses the placental position
- Determines the baby's position (more relevent after
32 weeks)
- Measures the amount of amniotic fluid around the baby
- Measures the blood flow (when indicated) from the
placenta to the baby through the umbilical cord to assess if the placenta is working well
